Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman New Zealand 4th March

For 32 years triathletes from around the world have ventured to Taupo to experience one of the most unique Ironman experiences.

As the second oldest Ironman in the world - following the Ironman World Championship in Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii - Ironman New Zealand has become a bucket list event over the years. 2017 is your year to tick this beautiful destination race off the 'must-do list’.

Firmly established in its hometown of Taupo since 1999, the event showcases the best New Zealand and its breathtaking scenery has to offer. Thanks to the locals' pure Kiwi spirit, you will feel like a local the minute you arrive. The event attracts more than 2,200 volunteers from a population of just 32,000—and you'll encounter the rest along the streets cheering you on.

One of the world’s biggest fresh water lakes offers arguably the best swim on the circuit. A two-loop bike course comes back through town before heading through the rural landscape and a three-loop run course leaves you no chance to escape the thousands of spectators. Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Ironman New Zealand allows you to realise your Ironman potential in one of the world’s most beautiful places.

The race offers 40 qualifying slots for the 2017 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, along with 10 additional for the military division in 2017.

New Zealand is one of the most picturesque and photogenic places on earth. A small island nation of less than 4.5 million people. New Zealand is made up of two major land masses, the North Island and the South Island. These islands are divided by a 22km stretch of sea called the Cook Strait, (named after Captain James Cook, the english explorer that discovered New Zealand in 1769.

New Zealand is located in the south west pacific ocean, aproximately 1,500kms southeast of Australia.Due to its relitive remoteness and being water locked, New Zealand is one of the last places on earth to be disovered and settlled.

The country is made up of some of the worlds most spectacular landscapes, from vast mountain ranges to sweeping coastlines, making the perfect background for high budget movies such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by Peter Jackson. New Zealand is a natural playground for thrill seekers and adventurers and those who simply just want to visit for the culture and landscapes.
