Miss Jean Batten - 13th July
Jean Batten’s 1936 flight from England to New Zealand in a single-engine plane made of wood and fabric navigating with just a compass and a watch, is one of the extraordinary feats of the last century.
Yet when she successfully landed in Auckland the Mayor greeted her with the words, “Jean you are a very naughty girl, and really I think you want a good spanking for giving us such a terribly anxious time here.”
"A bold and confident performance that had the audience laughing out loud, in tears and on their feet at the end." - Rose Jackson, Glory Days Magazine

New Zealand is located in the south west pacific ocean, aproximately 1,500kms southeast of Australia.Due to its relitive remoteness and being water locked, New Zealand is one of the last places on earth to be disovered and settlled.
The country is made up of some of the worlds most spectacular landscapes, from vast mountain ranges to sweeping coastlines, making the perfect background for high budget movies such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by Peter Jackson. New Zealand is a natural playground for thrill seekers and adventurers and those who simply just want to visit for the culture and landscapes.
