NZ Mountain Film Festival Best of The Fest Taupo Screening - 11th August

The 'Best of the Fest' National Tour offers an outstanding collection of unique adventure films from around the world featuring Kiwis and other adventurers push their limits and challenge nature's playgrounds.

The screening will be at 7:45pm at Starlight Cinema and will run for just over 2 1/4 hours.

Tickets are available from Starlight Cinema up to and on the night.

Some of the feature films include:
Give Me Five - 11 mins, Director: Arnaud Longobardi, France, subtitles. Best Short Film.
The film is the story behind an attempt at formation flight between a speed-wing and two wingsuits pilots.

Into Twin Galaxies - A Greenland Epic - 52 mins, Director: Jochen Schmoll, Germany. Grand Prize Winner.
Three adventurers embark on an insane kayaking mission in Greenland. With kite skis, they tow their whitewater kayaks over 1000 kilometres of the Greenland Ice Cap to reach the most northern river ever paddled.

Link Sar West - 31 mins, Director: Jon Griffith, UK. Best Film On Climbing.
Link Sar in Pakistan was an obsession for UK alpinist and photographer Jonathan Griffith. He made three attempts on the peak before reaching the west summit on his fourth try. Near disastrous circumstances, with riveting video and breathtaking cinematography.

Mountains of Heaven - 23 mins, Director: Jenny Tough, Scotland. Runner up for Best Film On Adventurous Sports & Lifestyles.

Solo adventurer and endurance runner Jenny Tough attempts to run across Kyrgyzstan, carrying everything she needs to survive on her back and using ancient nomad trails carved into the imposing Tien Shan mountains.

Come along and ignite your passion for adventure, action, and travel.

Weber Bros Circus - 11th August

Weber Bros Circus is back in New Zealand, it is 2017 and we are hitting it with a bang!

We are excited after spending 8 years overseas in South Africa, Europe, South Korea and dominating the Entertainment Scene in Australia.

Weber Bros Circus will definitely not let you down with their latest Production Adrenaline. Adrenaline showcases some of the most exhilarating and sensational Acts from all over the world.

Offering a night of escapism and positivity, the show blends stunning cirque artistry and acrobatics on the ground and in the air with hilarious slapstick comedy, mysterious illusion and extreme stunts.

Including FMX jumps beneath the Big Top circus tent, the splitting Globe of Death (a spherical cage in which four riders encircle each other and perform precarious tricks) and one of the world’s only surviving Human Cannonball acts, fired right over the heads of the audience.

New Zealand is one of the most picturesque and photogenic places on earth. A small island nation of less than 4.5 million people. New Zealand is made up of two major land masses, the North Island and the South Island. These islands are divided by a 22km stretch of sea called the Cook Strait, (named after Captain James Cook, the english explorer that discovered New Zealand in 1769.

New Zealand is located in the south west pacific ocean, aproximately 1,500kms southeast of Australia.Due to its relitive remoteness and being water locked, New Zealand is one of the last places on earth to be disovered and settlled.

The country is made up of some of the worlds most spectacular landscapes, from vast mountain ranges to sweeping coastlines, making the perfect background for high budget movies such as Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by Peter Jackson. New Zealand is a natural playground for thrill seekers and adventurers and those who simply just want to visit for the culture and landscapes.
